When Microsoft approached Tether to concept a digital learning platform that leveraged the capabilities of its Surface tablets, the team got out the sticky notes & whiskey and went to town.

The space where video sharing, social networks, collaborative writing, online education and university level accreditation overlap and the new space they create together is rich with potential.

There is a pinch & zoom mechanic that works from the top category tiles down to the granular class lecture level. This student dashboard contains an overview of classroom analytics, shared calendaring, homework reminders, workgroup chat, lecture recap and document binder.
Individual classes were based on traditional academics but taught in a Microsoftessori manner based on cultural events and experiments to complete with the slate.
Video lecture with typed & stylus drawn notes. Photo and audio were included to capture any group work sessions.
