Shutterstock wanted the Seattle AIGA chapter to host one of its first regional Pixels of Fury battles. I produced the event and played ringmaster for the night.

The Night #

Six local designers competed in three rounds of 20-minute poster battles, fueled by pizza, cupcakes, and Hilliards. Creative directors from Tether and Digital Kitchen served as judges. Terry Marks announced the prompts. Erik Simkins shot double-exposure Polaroids throughout.

The prop I built for the winner announcement was a 3D cardboard and hot glue adaptation of the newly-released Adobe CC logo - sized large enough to make an impression, engineered to be pulled apart in seconds once the winner was named. It lasted about as long as intended.

A proper crystal trophy handled the actual prize. Sometimes the cardboard moment is for the crowd.

Built with Neil Palmer.
